Personas | Skampurado

Skampurado is a vibrant six-piece mixed-race band that fuses the upbeat bounce of ska with the laid-back groove of reggae, serving a sound as colorful and comforting as the Filipino dessert they’re named after.  Known for their infectious rhythms and feel-good energy, the band brings together diverse cultural influences into one cohesive, danceable identity -- often blending English and Tagalog lyrics to reflect their global yet distinctly Filipino spirit.

At the center is their suave frontman, a smooth vocalist who doubles as a sharp, expressive trumpeter. His stage presence is effortlessly charismatic -- whether he’s delivering catchy hooks or punctuating choruses with bright brass lines.  Beside him is the band’s hyperactive spark: a lively saxophonist who bounces across the stage, adding playful yet tight backing vocals that energize every performance. The band’s bassist is the quiet anchor behind Skampurado’s vibrant, genre-blending sound -- a musician whose steady grooves and understated charisma hold everything together.  His bass lines don’t just support the music -- they shape it, giving each track its pulse and soul while allowing the rest of the band to shine.

Balancing the group’s dynamism is a seemingly conservative but quietly expressive keyboardist, whose piano lines add warmth and structure to the band’s sound.  Her subtle harmonies and composed demeanor contrast beautifully with the band’s more animated members.  On guitar, a cool Jamaican player brings authentic reggae flavor -- his relaxed strumming and rhythmic instincts grounding the band in roots tradition while still allowing room for experimentation.

Completing the lineup is an adventurous Japanese percussionist, often seen wearing a signature hat, who injects texture and global flair into the band’s rhythm section.  From traditional percussion to inventive rhythmic accents, his playing ties everything together with a sense of spontaneity and exploration.
